Samsung voluntarily announced a recall to provide a corrective measure following reports of accidental activation of front-mounted range knobs on certain slide-in electric range models. Samsung voluntarily agreed to perform this recall, in cooperation with Health Canada. This decision addresses potential range knob activation through accidental contact by people or pets, inherently posing a fire hazard if objects are left on top of the range.
Samsung Canada is working cooperatively with Health Canada and is providing affected consumers with either a set of free knob locks or covers (depending on their model) as an additional safety measure against accidental activation.
